Can I use sunlight instead of phototherapy for my baby's jaundice?

No. Phototherapy uses calibrated blue-spectrum light at a specific intensity that window-filtered sunlight cannot replicate. Direct sunlight risks sunburn and overheating in a newborn. If your paediatrician recommends phototherapy, proceed - it is safe, effective, and prevents kernicterus.
